The amount of the curing agent depends on the actual requirements of customers. If molds require fast drying and demould, more curing agent is needed, and the mixing ratio shouldn’t be over 5%, the more curing agent, the faster the molding time. Or it will waste the silicone rubber.
Contrarily, it is the silicone potting mold, less curing agent will be needed to lengthen the operation time. The mixing ratio of silicone and the catalyst shouldn’t below 1%, otherwise, it would need a longer curing time. With the mixing ratio less than 5%, it would have little influence on the hardness, tear strength, and tensile strength. Silicone and the catalyst:
1. Curing agent 1% added, the silicone can still be operated within 2.5 hours and can be demoulded after 6-8 hours.
2. Curing agent 2% added, the silicone can still be operated within 50 minutes to 1 hour and can be demoulded after 2-3 hours.
3. Curing agent 3% added, the silicone can still be operated within 28 - 30 minutes and can be demoulded after 1.5-2 hours.
4. Curing agent 4% added, the silicone can still be operated within 10 - 15 minutes and can be demoulded after 1 -1.5 hours.
It should stir evenly after the catalyst is added into the silicone, if not mixed well, the silicone may be partially cured. And the mold would become scraped when the uncured part haven’t been hardened after 48 hours. Then you need to clean up the silicone and make the mold again.
