The quality of RTV liquid silicone rubber raw materials will affect the quality of silicone molds and their applications. The determinants of the quality of silicone are viscosity, hardness, tear strength and tensile strength. Let me share with you some tips for judging the quality of liquid silicone.
Viscosity: The liquidity of silicone rubber is determined by viscosity. Let liquid silicone rubber vertical natural flow down when testing it. The faster the flow, the better the fluidity of the silicone. Please note, viscosity is proportional to tear strength. Do not use low viscosity silicone to pursue liquidity, which will lead to silicone molds with low tear strength to reduce reproduction. Some factories add much silicone oil to increase liquidity, which also deterioration in tear strength.
Hardness: Hardness is one of the important technical indicators that reflect silicone material rigidity. If the hardness of the silicone is below shore A 10, the silicone products have low tear strength, high elongation and easy to be deformed; if hardness is above shore A 50, silicone products have poor tear strength and it easy to fracture. The tear strength, elongation get their groove.
Tear strength: High tear strength silicone products have good resistance to damage, long life, and it is not easily susceptible to outside interference. Poor tear strength silicone products are prone to cracks during the process of tearing, and then rapidly expanding crack under stress, which lead to the mold can not use.
Tensile strength: The tensile strength of silicone rubber will impact the silicone mold. Silicone mold which is made of poor tensile strength silicone is not durable and its tear strength is not good. Hence, it is not easy to de-mold.
